Here's another suggestion for your fancy dinner, Pan-seared salmon steak with a sweet and savory glaze of soy sauce & maple syrup.

It doesn't only look fancy, but it also has upscale-restaurant-quality taste. Is it simple to make? Yes. We still keep our promise of "Gastronomy made Easy".

Take a look at the recipe and give it a try. I promise any salmon fan would fall for it. Watch till the end for 2 different ways of plating ;)

Watch the video for detailed instructions

Ingredients:
  ❥ Salmon marinate:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 lb salmon steak, 1inch thick
  ❥ Baked potato side dish:
  • 4 red potato, cleaned
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • Pinch of pepper

Instructions:
  1. Mix all the marinate ingredients together and marinate salmon. Massage gently on both sides. Let salmon marinate in the fridge for 2 hours. Flip salmon occasionally for full absorption
  2. Dice potato into cubes
  3. Place potato cubes onto baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Add olive oil, salt and pepper and mix well with your hand to make sure potato is well coated.
  4. Bake potato in preheated oven at 450F (232C) for 35 - 40 minutes. Take potato out halfway through to mix
  5. Heat a skillet on medium heat. Add a little bit of olive oil and brush it evenly onto skillet.
  6. Add salmon and pan-sear for 4-5 minutes on each side. Keep checking to make sure it's not burnt.
  7. Bring excess marinate to a boil in a small sauce pan. Add 1/2 tsp corn starch to thicken the sauce if desired
  8. Take salmon out gently when ready. Garnish with cilantro
  9. Serve with baked potato and excess sauce.

Enjoy!
